Real Estate Internship

Much of Asia is looking to develop and the developed parts are looking to redevelop. The large population in Asia means cities are growing, communities are developing, and real estate is an industry filled with potential opportunities. The market in Asia is nowhere near oversaturated or stagnated, thus you can expect to experience projects and development during your internship.

The dynamic real estate market in Asia offers you a chance to tackle the sector of your interest. Some of your tasks during your internship may include marketing strategies, financial analysis, research, and much more. A real estate internship in Asia will equip you with key skills that can enhance and jump-start your future career.

Asia Internship Program’s extensive network will allow us to design for you the internship to develop your desired skill sets. We also offer events and support required for you to develop your skills and network.

Past AIP Real Estate interns have been involved and worked on the following projects:

  • Conducting site inspections, market field surveys, preparing valuation reports, and making recommendations.
  • Developing reports on key trends, and issues affecting the market and regional economy.
  • Gathering and managing price comparable and active requirement data for the local residential/retail market.
  • Creating events, marketing, and promoting on social media channels.
  • Working with the latest real estate listing technology.

Note that all AIP interns are given a personal supervisor who will train, monitor and guide you throughout your international internship experience.

Internship tasks will vary from company to company, as well as intern to intern. These are only examples of tasks that were carried out from previous interns.

AIP Real Estate Internship Scope

Depending on their internship requirements and the available internship positions in our partner companies, prospective interns may work in any of the following (or other) disciplines during their real estate internship with AIP:

  • Residential Real Estate Brokerage: This has to do with representing buyers or sellers of both newly constructed and resale residential properties, such as single-family homes, duplexes, quadplexes, condominiums, townhouses, vacation homes, etc.

  • Commercial Real Estate Brokerage: Commercial realtors represent buyers and sellers of commercial properties including hotels, offices, shopping centers, medical and educational buildings, and even apartment buildings.

  • Industrial Real Estate Brokerage: Realtors in this field render their services to buyers and sellers of industrial properties - that is, buildings used for research, production, storage and distribution of goods. Such buildings include factories, warehouses, and so on.

  • Land Brokerage: Land brokers oversee the buying and selling of vacant land, ranches, farms, etc. Vacant land, in this case, may be undeveloped, early development or reuse, as well as subdivision and site assembly.

AIP Real Estate Internship Benefits

If there is one industry where networking and building relationships is absolutely vital, it is the real estate industry. For a student or young professional with the desire to make get ahead in the industry, an international real estate internship provides an extraordinary opportunity to network and build relationships with the right people.

As a real estate intern in Asia, you will gain incredible insight into the world of real estate in an Asian market. Among several other important lessons, you will get to learn how important it is to always have a strategic plan or system mapped out to help you proceed smoothly towards your goal. A comprehensive plan of action is crucial to success in the real estate world.

Skills you will develop during your real estate internship in Asia include how to gather and organize market data in an understandable and usable format; how to make a compelling presentation and how to improve your professional presentation; how to manage personnel resources; negotiation and persuasion skills; judgment and decision making skills; reading comprehension and writing skills; time management skills; communications skills, and service orientation skills.

An internship in this industry will also help you determine the specific real estate field you are most passionate about, and where your abilities lie. This will help you kick start your future career in real estate without beating about the bush.

The Demand for Experienced Realtors Worldwide

Homes, offices, and different kinds of properties are bought and sold on a daily basis. Property sellers need someone to link them up to property buyers, and property buyers in turn, need someone to inform them on their options, and also facilitate the whole process of acquiring a property. Real estate brokers, of course, are the only ones who can perform these tasks best, and so buyers and sellers of real estate always turn to them for help, advice and guidance.

Several factors are likely to contribute to a rise in the demand for experienced real estate brokers worldwide. For one, the millennial generation is on the verge of entering the prime working and household-building age. Their entry into the housing market will, most likely, lead to a higher demand for residential real estate agents and brokers.

On the other hand, with an improved job market and increased consumer spending, there will be an increase in demand for experienced realtors who can handle industrial and commercial real estate transactions.

However, as the economy continues to expand and more individuals and businesses look to buy new properties, job competition may increase and new realtors may find it hard to make headway without experience. A real estate internship with AIP will be a solid starting point to gain this much needed experience.

The Role of Real Estate in an Economy

Real estate is as vital - if not more vital - to the economy as any other industry you can think of. Real estate creates employment in various sectors, for surveyors, architects, builders, engineers, facility managers, those that supply raw materials to construction companies, and even legal and financial advisors.

As an enabler of economic activity, real estate plays a significant role in the provision of infrastructure. It provides the space and infrastructure without which businesses will not be able to operate effectively, leading to the stagnation of certain sectors of the economy. It also provides living and public services infrastructure to improve and sustain the well-being of citizens.

Last but not least, real estate is an attractive asset class for institutional investors such as insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, and pension funds. This creates maximum returns and investment opportunities for savers and pensioners worldwide, and makes large urban regeneration projects more feasible.
